Art of Wrapping II.
ART OF WRAPPING
Authorities in the footsteps of Christo
After lockdown and restrictions due to coronavirus authorities used red-white striped vinyl safety tape to make use of public spaces impossible. They wrapped outdoor gym-equipments and by overreaction unintentionally created installations, and temporary sculptures to pandemic times. Real pieces of contemporary art that resemble works of famous Christo and Jean-Claude.
I discovered them, captured, and edited them into the two, closed fine art photographic series named Wrapped Gym and Wrapped Ropes, while Christo's thoughts came to my mind:
"I used plastic for wrapping a variety of objects. Using plastic and rope is a way to deny the function of the object. With objects that are meant to move, the wrapping stops the dynamics, stops the movement, though the object is not hidden and its mechanism remains visible."
